What is Quarter Century Wireless Assn? The QCWA is an orginazation of Amateur Radio Operators who were first licensed 25 or more years ago (licensing need not be continuous). The orginazation was founded in 1947, and has members and chapters around the World. During its existance, the QCWA has had almost 30,000 members, of which about 10,000 are still living. Among the more famous ones was Barry Goldwater, who served as the National President of QCWA.The National office publishes a quarterly "Journal" for its members. |
MembershipIf you were first licensed 25 or more years ago, you must be a member of National before you can join a chapter. Recent changes in National policy now allow hams first licensed less than 25 years ago to join chapters as "Associates", but they may not hold chapter or Nat'l office, may not vote in Nat'l elections, and will not receive the "Journal" magazine from National. Associates may, however, function within the chapter as a member, as long as they aren't Pres., VP, Secty., or Treas. In otherwords, National does not recognize Associates as members, and will not keep track of them, but they may be part of a chapter.
